Details: Tall buildings have been criticized as major energy consumers, but the design of tall buildings has barely been discussed in terms of an integrated process. This is even more critical to China, since China has been dominating tall building development in the world (e.g., for the ninth year in a row, China had the most 200-meter-plus completions, with a record 84 in 2016.)

With support from the Architectural Society of Shanghai China,Tongji University and the U.S. Green Building Council, the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) will organize a panel discussion titled “Optimizing Tall Building Performance in China: From Conception to Operation” at Tongji Architectural Design (Group) Co., Ltd. (TJAD) on Wednesday afternoon, 2nd August. This will be followed by the book launch of Roadmap on the Future Research Needs of Tall Buildings (Chinese version), co-organized with Tongji University Press. The discussions will fully examine tall building performance from various angles and across numerous stages, including planning and conceptual design, detailed design and construction, operation and maintenance, optimization for complying with rating systems, etc., and explore current and future research on tall buildings.

Language: All presentations will be in Chinese.
