Melbourne is set to get its first W Hotel, with Cbus Property confirming W Melbourne will open in 2020 as part of its AUD$1 billion (USD$769 million) mixed-use luxury precinct Collins Arch.
The hotel will be located in the eastern core of the landmark arched-tower project and will offer 294 spacious guestrooms across 15 levels, including 40 suites as well as a cocktail bar, restaurant, day spa, pool, gym, and conference and ballroom facilities. Local Melbourne interior design practice Hachem has been appointed to design the hotel’s interiors. Upon completion, W Hotels Worldwide, a part of Marriott International, will operate the hotel.
The tower’s architectural form, designed in collaboration by Woods Bagot and New York practice SHoP Architects, will feature the city’s first sky bridge, which links the dual-core tower, according to developers.
Cbus Property CEO Adrian Pozzo said the highly awarded W Hotels brand befitted the iconic project, which will transform the city. “From the start, Collins Arch was designed as a world class destination and we’re extremely excited to announce W Hotels as operators of our five-star hotel,” said Pozzo.
The hotel deal was brokered by Savills Australia New Zealand Managing Director Michael Simpson and involved the sale of the hotel component of the project to owner Daisho Development Melbourne.
