30-Story Residential Tower Proposed for Wharf Street in Brisbane

Brisbane, Australia – 13 February 2017

Morris Property Group has submitted a development application to build a 30-story residential tower at 152 Wharf Street in the Spring Hill neighborhood of Brisbane.

Designed by DBI Design Pty Ltd, the tower proposal consists of 197 apartments and three ground-floor retail tenancies. Residence offerings are broken down into 48 one-, 124 two-, and 25 three-bedroom units.

According to the development application, “The desire for the building is to provide housing at a price point affordable for young singles and couples. This has required the design to be economically viable, meeting their demanding needs, and providing quality affordable accommodation. Additional value is brought to the building through its unique expression and identity, which will stand out on the city’s skyline.”

The sixth floor will feature indoor and outdoor communal spaces housing several key amenities. The recreation area, for example, will include a lap pool, spa, lounge decks, artificial lawn terrace, entertainment area, gym, teppanyaki bar, and dining terrace.

The proposal will also incorporate landscaping, add established trees, and include streetscape works.
The development application notes that, “The vision [for the project] has been to create a building based on its location, form, and quality and contribute to the surrounding neighborhood on many levels and in a positive way. Particular attention has been paid to the building scale, so that it is both distinctive and visible in the city, but also embraces the local environment in one fluid motion.”
