Melbourne to House World’s Tallest Student Accommodation Tower

Melbourne, Australia – 05 May 2017

Scape Student Living claims that it is planning the world’s tallest student accommodation tower on Franklin Street – an AU$300 million (US$222 million), 60-story tower in the Melbourne CBD overlooking RMIT University, according to The Australian Financial Review.

If approved, the report said the tower will comprise 740 student beds, along with 146 city-living units, according to submitted plans. The proposal also includes retail space and 11,500 square meters of commercial space.

The project – bought in 2016 by Scape for AU$56 million (US$41 million) – sits on 2,000 square meters at 97 Franklin Street. Scape is due to open another complex at 393 Swanston Street in February of 2018 with over 750 student accommodation units.
