Brisbane-based Aria Property Group has unveiled a new design for its latest residential development.
The 30-story Manning Street Apartments will rise from 15 Manning Street, South Brisbane, and take a cylindrical shape. It will comprise 261 apartments across 24 residential levels and feature a large green wall.
Architecture firm Woods Bagot adopted a circular theme across the whole development, designing the podium façade to “peel open,” revealing an extension of Fish Lane. The façade is made up of cylindrical terracotta-like pipes interspersed with vertical greenery and lighting to create a sculptural and striking base.
Landscaping cascades from the top of the podium down the face between the pipes, producing a woven pattern.
The podium parking levels, designed by Form Landscape Architects, are screened by a massive living green wall intertwined with more than 150 oversized terracotta and metal pipes. Smaller green walls and water features are also incorporated into the main lobby and recreation levels to provide a cooling effect for users.
The site’s former owner, Metro Property Group, sold the AU$20 million (US$16 million) site to Aria for AU$13 million (US$10 million), a 35% discount from what Metro Property originally paid in 2015.
