Abu Dhabi-based real estate developer IMKAN has announced the start of construction work for its seven-tower “Pixel” project in Reem Island in Abu Dhabi. Pixel is phase one of the 18-hectare mixed-use development, Makers District.
Pixel’s seven towers will be comprised of residential apartments, co-working office spaces, F&B and retail and will be surrounded by water features, the company stated.
As per the schedule, Makers District is due for completion in Q4 of 2020 and the tenders for the main works will be awarded in Q1, 2019. Contracting firm, Dutch Foundation has completed all 938 secants of shoring and started with five meters of excavation inside Pixel. This is to accommodate two basements of approximately 22,000 square meters each, while piling works will be finished by Q1, 2019.
Richard Larmer, senior development director of IMKAN, said: “The quality of this development is already evident from the construction contracts being awarded to renowned specialists in our industry. We are committed to delivering the project as per the highest international standards, using the latest technology and construction methods. I have no doubt that Pixel will help raise the bar for construction in the capital once it is complete.”
According to a statement from IMKAN, Makers District will transform urban living by providing residents the opportunity to be part of a creative environment where innovation and interaction thrive.
