The CTBUH 2017 Student Research Competition, sponsored by Underwriters Laboratories, resulted in the winning project entitled “An Innovative Tall Building Façade to Achieve High Ventilation, Fire Safety, and Structural Performance,” submitted by Andrea Giachetti, a PhD student at Università degli Studi di Firenze, working under Gianni Bartoli, an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The goal of the competition is to assist talented students, overseen by an instructor, in focusing on a relevant research question within the 2017 theme of “Tall Building Performance.”

Award
The award for this competition is provided by Underwriters Laboratories in the amount of $20,000. CTBUH will facilitate the transfer of funds to the appropriate university or professor involved with this project to support the students in their research activities.
