The seed funding initiative, sponsored by ARUP, will award $20,000 to help a research team develop a relevant research idea and attract more funding. The list of applicants included researchers from universities in the USA, UK and China, as well as top firms HOK, Skidmore Owings & Merrill, and Perkins & Will.

The CTBUH 2013 International Research Seed Funding Initiative represents a key step forward for the CTBUH’s Research Division. The Initiative was created to assist researchers in developing projects and ideas to a level sufficient to secure more significant funding, in conjunction with the CTBUH.

“The number of multidisciplinary research proposals have increased significantly, highlighting the importance of collaboration amongst different fields of research,” said Dr. Payam Bahrami, CTBUH Senior Research Associate. “We have received research proposals regarding innovative topics on emerging areas and new technologies.”
