CTBUH 2014 Research Seed Funding Draws Diverse Research Proposals From 11 Countries

CHICAGO - The CTBUH’s third research seed funding initiative has received 30 proposals from 11 countries. Twenty-eight universities and ten internationally renowned firms and institutions have submitted applications to the CTBUH research office.
The research seed funding initiative, this year sponsored by ECADI, will award $20,000 to help the winning research team develop a relevant research idea, and to create a work plan that will attract additional funding from various sources. The winner of the grant will be chosen by the Research Seed Funding Review Committee and announced at the CTBUH 2014 International Conference, to be held in Shanghai from September 16-19, 2014.

The proposals are now being evaluated by the CTBUH 2014 Research Seed Funding Review Committee.

The list of this year’s applicants includes researchers from universities and research institutions in the USA, UK, China, Germany, Italy, Greece, Sweden, Indonesia, and Bangladesh, as well as several internationally renowned architecture, engineering and industrial firms.

The CTBUH 2014 International Research Seed Funding Initiative continues to be a key milestone for the advancement of the CTBUH’s Research Division. The Initiative is created to assist researchers in developing projects and ideas to a level that can secure more significant funding, in the form of collaborations and joint proposals, in conjunction with the CTBUH.

This year, there have been many interesting proposals for multi-disciplinary research of innovative ideas and technologies, tackling important issues regarding buildings, urbanism, safety, and future trends in the built environment.
